The Covid cases in Malaysia don’t seem to go down in the nearest future. Therefore to curb the spread there are SOPs established for people to abide by. However, since January 2021 when the Malaysian government has announced a political state of emergency where the Parliament is halted from any conference. The initial purpose of this emergency state stated by our prime minister is to focus on fighting Covid-19. Since then, there so many changes and alteration without consultation of different parties and stakeholders to the SOPs and as a result has made the whole SOP become really vague and unclear for the people. Violation of the SOPs could cause a person to be fined up to RM50,000. Public spaces like night market, malls and entertainment premises are allowed to operate. Social events also are being held and mass gathering is still allowed. It is huge deception that these gatherings are held without violating the SOP, it is impossible to practice social distancing.
