In mid-April 2021, a 17-year old female student, Ain Husniza returned home from school and made a TikTok video exposing her teacher of making rape jokes during class. She received much support from netizens as well as backlashes from her school and classmates for being vocal about the issue. From that viral TikTok video, she started an internet trend using the hashtag #MakeSchoolASaferPlace and that received thousands of support from netizens. As a girl, Ain believed that rape jokes are not supposed to be normalized. Therefore she stands firm in her stance and for that she received a rape threat from one of his male classmates. Knowing that this could risk Ain’s safety, her parents lodged a police report and made Ain absent from school.
