AIN #MAKESCHOOLASAFERPLACE

In mid-April 2021, a 17-year old female student, Ain Husniza returned home from school and made a TikTok video exposing her teacher of making rape jokes during class. She received much support from netizens as well as backlashes from her school and classmates for being vocal about the issue.  From that viral TikTok video, she started an internet trend using the hashtag #MakeSchoolASaferPlace and that received thousands of support from netizens. As a girl, Ain believed that rape jokes are not supposed to be normalized. Therefore she stands firm in her stance and for that she received a rape threat from one of his male classmates. Knowing that this could risk Ain’s safety, her parents lodged a police report and made Ain absent from school. Some of her friends that initially supported her also turned their backs on Ain saying that she was supposed to not make a huge issue out of it. Ain’s bravery to call out these disgusting behaviours are made fun and some people also made lewd remar...

Reflective Journal 4 Double Standard

The Covid cases in Malaysia don’t seem to go down in the nearest future. Therefore to curb the spread there are SOPs established for people to abide by. However, since January 2021 when the Malaysian government has announced a political state of emergency where the Parliament is halted from any conference. The initial purpose of this emergency state stated by our prime minister is to focus on fighting Covid-19. Since then, there so many changes and alteration without consultation of different parties and stakeholders to the SOPs and as a result has made the whole SOP become really vague and unclear for the people. Violation of the SOPs could cause a person to be fined up to RM50,000.  Public spaces like night market, malls and entertainment premises are allowed to operate. Social events also are being held and mass gathering is still allowed. It is huge deception that these gatherings are held without violating the SOP, it is impossible to practice social distancing. Some influence...

Kurma

Assalamualaikum readers! Its the final day of Ramadhan now. Cepat sangat kan Ramadhan tahun ni? Student uia pun baru je habis lecture week kan, kemain ye 10 minggu takde midsem break. So, bersempena dengan Ramadhan terakhir ni aku nak share satu renungan yang aku buat. Sila enjoy! Okay, so based on tajuk kita iaitu 'Kurma', is basically one of the sunnah ketika berbuka. Like, semua orang tau kalau kita berbuka dengan tamar adalah sunnah and kita dapat pahala by eating kurma. Part tu, sebagai seorang muslim, aku rasa aku sangat bertuah sebab apa? ALLAH dah prepare pahala dah untuk hamba dia yang melaksanakan kebaikan. Like, imagine eh. Just by eating a single tamar, you get reward, you get pahala. Its just that aku nak kata la, aku bukan seorang yang gemar makan kurma. Tapi during this ramadhan my view changed, like i told myself, my brother to eat kurma niat untuk mengamalkan sunnah. Aku letak tepi aku punya tak suka kurma tu. Sebab makan sebiji je kan, that's not gonna do ...

Welcome!! E-Portfolio of meenionss

Assalamualaikum wrt. wbt. This is some information about myself. My full name is Ameen Noor Aqilah. All my friends call me Ameen. I was born in October 2001 and I live in Puchong. I have 5 siblings, three brothers, and 2 sisters.  My recent collaboration is with UniKL for a tourism webinar. I was in the special task team that I needed to coordinate the audience's registration and attendance. On the other hand, I was also a moderator for a program earlier during this semester where I hosted a program called 'Get To Know Us: TPHM Series' with two amazing speakers, our TPHM alumni.  In semester 1, I have completed Usrah 1, and one of my collaborations was a role play assignment where we need to form groups and present a short sharing to the class. This is the infographic poster that made by my group entitled 'Tanda-tanda akhir zaman dan Ilmu akhirat.' Same with semester 1, I also participated in a roleplay assignment with my friends and made a poster about 'The be...

Reflective Journal 3 (Is Sadaqah a sustainable act?)

Is sadaqah a sustainable act? As Muslims, we are encouraged to give sadaqah to the poor and needy. Allah has mentioned in Al-Quran (Al-Baqarah: 261) The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed (of grain) which grows seven spikes: in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies (His reward) for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. The benefits of sadaqah are outlined clearly and precisely in the Al-Quran. However, it is time to question the sustainability of the act itself.  Some individuals will set aside some funds from their salary every month to do charity with the intention of wealth cleansing. Some people will do targeted charity like they will give sadaqah to a selected low-income household by giving necessities and food supply every month. However, this targeted charity has turned the receivers to be dependent on the charity given by people. The charity done by people has become an expectation to these ne...

Reflective Journal 2 (education system)

During the last class, the teacher told us to discuss Malaysia’s higher education systems’ problems. From the discussion, I found that many students are studying for grades and academic qualifications to the extent some have lost sense of morality. In my opinion, ethics plays a crucial role in establishing a civilized society. However, secularism and capitalism have pressured the students to cross the boundaries set by moral standards and shariah. Social problems such as GRO culture have ruined these students’ morality. These individuals, a part of it, driven by the desperation of earning pocket money and tuition fees, start to sell themselves to afford the financial commitments.  When thinking of a problem, we couldn’t avoid questioning what the root cause is. During the discussion, the teacher mentioned that the privatization of education began in 1996. Private sectors can establish private education institutions to profit by selling education to students, which contradicts what ...

Reflective Journal 1

The last time I went to a bank in Puchong, there are two kids walking around asking for money. It was nighttime. In my mind was “Why do these kids are still here?”. Not far from the bank there is also another bank and it happens to be another pair of kids doing the same. I’m thinking of these kids might be the victims of the beggar syndicate. The kids are either were abducted or maybe some are homeless striving to live found by the criminals and then made into beggars.  Crimes like this happen because some people live in poverty due to the high cost of living and failure to establish a peaceful society. Taxes and increasing day by day, not just only on the people’s income but also on goods and services. Some people had to trade their sole property to make sure they are not starved to death. Children are being abused and exploited for personal good. Meanwhile, crime rates are increasing because of corruption. Criminals that have been caught are getting away by bribing the authoritie...

My Favorite Verses (The story of Musa and Khidir)

Asalamualaikum, welcome back to my blog. Today, in conjunction with my Usrah assigned task, I would like to share my favorite verse from the Al-Quran. So, before we move to the verses, let me introduce to you why did I say this verse is appealing to me.  Every Friday, in my middle school days, we were obliged to read Al-Kahf together. So every time during the recital will always take some time to read the translations of the Surah and I happen to laugh when I reach verse 67 of Surah Al-Kahf. So now what is the real reason for me selecting this verse as my favorite verse? Yes, please continue reading. Verse 67 of Surah Al-Kahf marks the start of the meeting between Nabi Musa a.s and Nabi Khidir a.s where Nabi Musa was instructed by Allah to seek knowledge with Nabi Khidir. However, Nabi Khidir warns Nabi Musa that he wouldn't be able to be patient with him during the journey. (Al-Kahf:67) But still, Nabi Musa insisted to follow Nabi Khidir and promised to not ask anything of Khidir...
